1. Why do we need a website for the building?
The goal of a site is to help make the Cornelia Arts Building a destination point for art buyers, curators and critics and to better represent the diverse, professional, creative work that goes on here.
Even if you already have your own website, the Cornelia site will work to your benefit - driving quality traffic back to your site through your profile page and providing a high-quality professional link for building events and marketing.
Many visitors may not be familiar with the whole building and some neighborhood residents may not even realize that we are here. This site will give new and returning visitors a simple way to preview building artists, download a building map and to register on our site to receive news and event reminders.
2. How much will it cost?
A minimal financial commitment to cover the costs of the domain name, hosting and marketing for the building. If each participant can give $5, 10, or 20/year we can cover the costs of the site and any extra will be put towards marketing building-wide events.
3. What do I get?
Each artist/artisan/artisan business will get one profile page on the website.
- Alpha listing by primary media type. Work in additional media can be listed on your profile page.
- A headshot or studio shot.
- Bio/Art Statement (2-3 paragraphs)
- Up to three (3) images of your work.
- Contact info (optional - phone, email)
- Link to your website.
Other site features: a PDF/online map of the building for visitors to download/view, an announcement section (probably a blog where you can post your own show announcements, awards, sales, etc), an event calendar, social networking integration (links to "fan" Cornelia on Facebook and to follow us on Twitter). And, possibly more as the site develops.
4. What will it look like?
Simple, clean, modern.
5. What can I do?
Below are a few ideas that would help make sure the site and building events are as successful as they can be:
- Building Organizers: Planners/communicators who will plan and set event dates as well as the occasional building-event/project meeting.
- Publicity: An individual or team that wants to create and send press-releases to media outlets for all of our events! Templates and a starter mailing-list available.
- Web Programmers: If you are a web programmer or developer and want to help out, contact me at eatpaint.chic@gmail.com.
- Designers: Anyone who wants to design flyers, postcards etc. for events. A building-wide event postcard in addition to individual postcards will help add focus to events AND they are pretty inexpensive (full color, front/back, for 5,000 cards is only $100 + Shipping - that's about $2/show participant.). Optional for each event, perhaps?
- Spread the Word: Tell people about the new Cornelia website. Include a link to your profile page on your website and in your own promotional materials.
6. When does this magic happen?
The week of January 4th, the sign up sheet at the front door will be collected and your information will be digitized allowing me to keep you up to date on the project and request your materials.
7. Who are you?
Hello! My name is Emily. I'm a painter/web designer new to the building (Studio #109). I look forward to working with you all.
