Eva Pleuhs

Painting and Drawing

Artist Eva Pleuhs, a woman with medium-length brown hair, wearing eyeglasses and a black dress, is seen standing in a rustic art studio setting. The wall behind her is halfway covered with stucco, half exposed brick that's been painted white. Directly behind her is a window with a sunny day seen. And to her left some abstract clay sculptures sit on shelves improvised from cinderblock and flat boards. She's standing next to one of her paintings, which is about 3 feet tall by 2 feet wide and shows abstract gold, black and pink shapes with smaller brush strokes of varying color scattered throughout the surface. In the very bottom right of the photo, a small tan and white terrier-type dog is seen looking at the camera.

I am a German- American artist based in CHICAGO, Illinois.

My paintings are acrylic on canvas or wood panels. I play with colors and shapes, applying various layers of paint that allow me to discover completely new structures and images as I scratch through those layers with the work evolving . This creates beautiful interactions between sometimes intricate structures and amazing colors, revealing at the same time complexity, purity, simplicity, and feelings. Some of my works are only complete when embellished with accents of pencil, pastel and fun collage pieces.

I couldn’t feel happier when a painting is finally finished. It’s an expression of ME - something that shows my emotions through colors, surfaces, scratches, and embellishments. That’s what lights me up and brings me joy every day!
